Wicket-keeper-batsman Adam Gilchrist has been appointed captain of the Deccan Chargers who have also roped in his former Australian teammate Darren Lehmann as the head coach of the Indian Premier League franchise team.
Gilchrist, who played in 96 Tests and 287 ODIs for Australia before retiring at the end of the Indian cricket team`s visit Down Under in March, is to replace Laxman who led the outfit in the inaugural IPL season earlier this year.
