Haryana register title hat-trick

Haryana registered a hat-trick by winning the Sub-junior Girls` National Hockey Championship three times in a row at the Biju Patnaik Hockey Stadium in Rourkela yesterday. Haryana won the 21st edition of the championship by decimating Jharkhand 8-0 in the one-sided final. Rani was the star performer for Haryana with four goals to her name. Among other goal-getters, Monika sounded the board twice, while Rajni and skipper Sandeep Kaur struck once each. Host Orissa finished third by defeating Uttar Pradesh 4-2. Orissa winger Anupa Barla of Panposh Sports Hostel was adjuded best player of the tournament. Rourkela ADM, S K Das gave away trophies at the closing function. National women`s hockey coach Y S Chauhan and Orissa Women`s Hockey Association president Frida Topno were present on the occasion.
