Orissa allrounder Sushree Dibyadarshini has been selected to represent Velocity team in the upcoming Women T20 Challenge, scheduled to be played at Sharjah Cricket Stadium in Sharjah from 4 to 9 November, 2020. The best of Indian womens cricket will combine with some of the leading stars from England, South Africa, Sri Lanka, West Indies, Bangladesh and New Zealand in the three-team tournament.
This will be the third edition of the tournament and will feature a total of four matches including the final. Other two teams in the fray are: Supernovas and Trailblazers. Originally scheduled to commence in May 2020 at Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur, the tournament was shifted to UAE due to global coronavirus pandemic.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has named Harmanpreet Kaur, Smriti Mandhana and Mithali Raj as captains of Supernovas, Trailblazers and Velocity respectively. Natthakan Chantham will become the first Thailand cricketer to feature in this tournament.
Bhubaneswar girl Sushree was also part of the Velocity team that finished runners-up in the second edition of the tournament, held last year in Jaipur. A member of Bhubaneswar-based Jagruti Cricket Academy and employee of Odisha Police, Sushree has been honing her skills under the guidance of coach Khirod Behera.
