Superb allround performance by captain Ranjib Biswal powered Orissa to an innings and 89-run win over Tripura on the penultimate day of their four-day Ranji Trophy East Zone match at Polytechnic Institute Ground in Agartala today. Biswal scored a century and followed it with a match haul of 12 wickets for 71 runs, including a career-best seven for 38 in the second innings.
This was 24th overall win and 13 by innings margin in 135 Ranji Trophy matches for Orissa. Against Tripura, this was Orissas ninth win and eight by innings margin in a total of nine matches so far.
Riding on a 190-ball knock of 126 (10x4) by Biswal, Orissa compiled a sizeable total of 379 after winning the toss and opting to bat. Besides the Biswal ton, Sanjay Raul (80) and Amiya Ray (51) scored a half-century each.
In reply, Tripura were bundled out for 102 in the first innings and following on after conceding a lead of 277 runs, folded up for 188 in the second essay. Biswal captured five wickets for 33 runs in the first innings.
