Orissa and Bengal secured three points each from their truncated three-day Ranji Trophy East Zone match, which ended in a draw on the last day at Ispat Stadium in Rourkela today. However, Orissa enjoyed the credit of taking first-innings lead. The matched was reduced to two day as no play was possible on the opening day.
Put into bat by Orissa captain Harmohan Praharaj, Bengal declared their first innings at 152 for two. In reply, Orissa too declared at 250 for six with Karun Dubey hitting a half-century. When the match ended on the final day, Bengal were 13 for no loss in their second innings. Orissa pace bowler Sourajit Mohapatra made his first-class debut in this match.
