Match haul of nine wickets for 37 runs by Harmohan Praharaj and first-innings half-century by Chiranjib Biswal helped Orissa script a 10-wicket win over host Assam on the last day of their three-day Ranji Trophy East Zone match at District Sports Association Outdoor Stadium in Dibrugarh today.
Chasing victory target of 71 runs, Orissa romped home with openers Karun Dubey and Asjit Jayaprakasham remaining unbeaten on 40 and 27 respectively. This was the eighth overall win in 83 Ranji Trophy matches for Orissa and seventh win in 27 matches against Assam.
Earlier electing to bat, Assam were bowled out for 100 with Harmohan Praharaj, Somnath Sahoo and captain Paramjit Singh taking three wickets each. In reply, Orissa rode on a career-best knock of 51 by Chiranjib Biswal to make a competitive total of 184.
Training by 84 runs in the first innings, Assam were all out for 154 in the second innings. Among Orissa bowlers, Praharaj was most successful with a career best six for 29 runs, while Bhardwaj picked up three for 30. Orissa pacer Pawan Agarwal made his first-class debut in this match.
