Superb all-round performance by Anand Shukla helped Bihar crush Orissa by an innings and 150 run on the second day of their three-day Ranji Trophy East Zone match at Keenan Stadium in Jamshedpur today. This was Bihar’s 16th win and sixth by innings margin in 20 Ranji Trophy matches against Orissa.
Shukla was the star of the match with a match haul of 10 wickets for 55 runs, including seven for 30 in the first innings, and a sparkling knock of 54 runs. After bundling out Orissa for 77, Bihar declared at 346 for nine to take a first-innings lead of 269 runs. In the second innings, Orissa were bowled out for 119.
Arun Patel was notable performer for Odisha, scoring 25 and 29 runs in two innings and taking four wickets for 103 runs. Vinod Gupta also shone with the bat in the second innings, hitting a defiant 65. Bikram Mohanty led Orissa for the first time, while his team-mate Mirmisa Rajagopalrao Sridhar made his first-class debut.
