Bihar defeated Orissa by seven wickets on the last day of their three-day Ranji Trophy East Zone match at Barabati Stadium in Cuttack today. This was Bihar’s 13th win in 17 Ranji Trophy matches against Orissa.
Put into bat by Bihar captain Ramesh Saxena, Orissa compiled a modest total of 130 with Arun Patel becoming top scorer with 42 runs. In reply, Bihar rode on a half-century by captain Saxena to muster 192.
Trailing by 62 runs in the first innings, Orissa made 136 in the second innings, despite a half-century by opener Mukul Roy Chowdhury. Set with a target of 65 runs, Bihar clinched win, losing three wickets in the process.
