Century each by G Tilak Raj and captain Anand Shukla propelled Bihar to 287-run win over Orissa on the last day of their three-day Ranji Trophy East Zone match at Tata Digwadi Stadium in Jamadoba today. This was Bihar’s 10th win in 14 Ranji Trophy matches against Orissa.
Batting first, Bihar declared their first innings at 309 for eight and then bowled out Orissa for 149. In their second innings, Bihar declared at 260 for four to take an overall lead of 420. Chasing a daunting target of 421 for victory, Orissa folded up for 133 in their second innings.
The highlights of the match were the unbeaten knocks of 107 by Tilak Raj in the first innings and 122 by Shukla in the second. Among Orissa players, opening batsman Pranab Kishore Das played well, scoring 41 and 29 in the first and second innings respectively. Prakash Roy Chowdhury made his first-class debut for Orissa in this match.
