Odisha FC today announced the signing of two more players _ young defenders Hendry Antonay and Saurabh Meher _ ahead of the seventh season of the Hero Indian Super League (ISL). But wait continued for Odisha football fans to see any of the home-grown players getting an offer from the club.
Notwithstanding the fact that around half-a-dozen players from Odisha have already represented India in age-group tournaments in last couple of years, none of them have been considered by the Bhubaneswar-based OFC.
Among Odisha boys, Bekey Oram and Samir Kerketta represented India U-16 team in a number of tournaments, including 2018 AFC U-16 Championships. Mid-fielder Tankadhar Bag was part of India team that won the SAFF U-18 and U-15 championships last year.
