India C emerged champions in the Womens Senior T20 Challenger Trophy Tournament, defeating India B by eight wickets here at Barabati Stadium today. Odisha Cricket Association secretary Sanjay Behera handed over the trophy to the victorious team.
Two players from Odisha featured in this match. Opening batsman Madhuri Meheta was part of the champion India C team, while allrounder Sushree Dibyadarshini represented runners-up India B team.
Electing to bat, India B scored 131 for six. Pooja Vastrakar was the top scorer with an unbeaten 43. India C overhauled the target in 15.2 overs, thanks to a blistering unbeaten 89 by Shafali Verma and her 77-run partnership for the opening wicket with Madhuri Meheta, who contributed 20.
