Odisha No 1 Kabir Hans clinched a double crown by winning both the mens singles and doubles titles in the 7th All Odisha Utkal Open Tennis Tournament which was held here at Kalinga Stadium Tennis Complex from 24 to 26 January 2020.
Diksha M Rout emerged womens singles champion, while the U-12 boys singles title was pocketed by Aniket Sahoo. The mens singles, doubles and womens singles title winners received cash prizes of Rs 10,000 each. The runners-up in men’s singles and doubles were given Rs 6,000 each, while the losing finalist in womens singles became richer by Rs 5,000.
Utkal Open also coincided with an AITA Championship Series Tournament for U-14 boys and girls. Lalit Tudu and Sohini S Mohanty (both Odisha) won the boys and girls singles title respectively in this event.
