Host Odisha accomplished a hat-trick of wins in Ranji Trophy, trouncing Uttarakhand by 10 wickets on the fourth and last day of their Elite Group-C match at DRIEMS Ground in Tangi, near here today.
The win fetched Odisha a maximum of seven points and catapulted the team to the top of the group table with a total of 27 points. Odisha opening batsman Shantanu Mishra was adjudged the Player of the Match for scoring his maiden first-class century in the first innings.
Right-hand batsman Mishra made 110 (245b, 12x4) in the first innings and followed it with an unbeaten 29 in the second essay. Electing to field first, Odisha bowled out Uttarakhand 117 and then mustered a competitive total of 253 to gain a first-inning lead of 136.
In the second innings, Uttarakhand made 195 to set a target of 59 for the home team to win the match. Odisha overhauled the target without losing any wicket. Among other notable performers for Odisha, experienced pacer Basant Mohanty returned with a match haul of nine wickets for 93 runs, including six for 17 in the first innings.
Fellow pacer Suryakant Pradhan shone in the second innings, scalping five wickets for 63 runs. Odisha will next meet Tripura at Maharaja Bir Bikram College Stadium in Agartala from 3 to 6 January, 2020.
