Odisha girl Aahan made it a double crown, winning both the U-12 and U-14 singles titles at the Singha-AITA Championship Series Tennis Tournament, which concluded at Singha Sports Academy in Jalandhar, Punjab today.
A student of Ace Base Tennis Academy, Naharkanta, Bhubaneswar, Aahan claimed the under-12 title, defeating Sachleen Kaur of Punjab in the final 6-3, 6-3. The Bhubaneswar girls completed the double by emerging under-14 singles champion with 3-6, 6-3, 7-5 win over Mehek Gupta of Punjab.
This was the third AITA title for Aahan, who had won first one in doubles category. Student of St Xaviers High School, Kedargouri, Aahan is being groomed by experienced coach Ajay Kumar Nishank.
Meanwhile, Satirtha Patnaik, the longest-serving tennis player of the state, added yet another feather to his cap by winning the 35+ mens singles title in the GVK-AISTA All India Ranking Seniors Tennis Tournament, which was held in Vijaywada from 1 to 5 Novembe, 2019. He also finished doubles runners-up in the Vijaywada tournament.
