Young Odisha shuttlers Swetaparna Panda and Ayush Pattnayak achieved notable success at the Yonex-Sunrise All India Sub-junior Ranking Tournament, held at Khuman Lampak Sports Complex in Imphal, Manipur from 21 to 27 July, 2019.
Swetaparna Panda, younger sibling of rising international shuttler Rutaparna Panda, won the under-15 mixed doubles title with Sathwik Reddy K of Telangana as her partner. They beat Nathan Sheih and Nardhana VR of Tamil Nadu in the final 21-18, 21-16. This was the maiden national level title for Swetaparna, who heralded her emergence as talented shuttler of the state.
Ayush finished under-17 boys doubles runners-up with Suhas V of Karnataka as his partner. They lost to Tamil Nadu pair of Hariharan Amsakarunan and Ruban Kumar R in the summit clash 12-21, 18-21.
