Host and highest ranked India (World Rank 5) were crowned champions in the FIH Mens Series Finals when they thrashed South Africa (World Rank 16) 5-1 in the final here at Kalinga Stadium Hockey Complex today. Both the champion and runner-up teams qualified for the FIH Olympic Qualifiers, scheduled to be held in October-November this year.
Asian Games gold medalist Japan (World Rank 18) finished third, beating USA (World Rank 25) 4-2 in the classification match earlier in the day. USA goalkeeper Daniel Wisselink was adjudged the Man of the Match.
