FIDE Trainer Swayams Mishra became the second Grand Master (GM) of Odisha and 62nd of India after securing his 3rd and final norm at Polonia Wroclaw Master Cup GM Tournament, held at Wroclaw in Poland from 28 April to 5 May, 2019.
Swayam also emerged champion in the Polonia Wroclaw Master, scoring seven points out of a possible nine. He won five games and drew the remaining four. His five wins came against FM Filip Cukrowski (Poland), FM Wojciech Przybylski (Poland), GM Marcin Tazbir (Poland), IM Szymon Gumularz (Poland) and Antoni Kozak (Poland).
Swayams shared point against GM Toms Kantans (Latvia), FM Arkadiusz Skawinski (Poland), GM Vitaliy Sivuk (Ukrain) and FM Pranav Anand (India). With the title triumph he added 20 rating points to his total of 2478.
A 26-years-old engineer, Swayams achieved his first GM norm at the KIIT Open, Bhubaneshwar in 2014 and the second at the Isle of Man in 2015.
