Maintaining her glittering form in the National Circuit, talented Odisha shuttler Rutaparna Panda won the mixed doubles title and finished women doubles runners-up in the Yonex-Sunrise All-India Senior Ranking Tournament, held at KBA Stadium in Bangalore from 23 to 28 April, 2019.
Trainee of Hyderabad-based Gopichand Academy, Rutaparna bagged the mixed doubles gold medal with Dhruv Kapila (Air India) as her partner. They defeated Assam duo of Sangram Chutia and Manali Bora in the final 21-13, 21-19.
Rutaparna and Dhruv won four matches on their way to the final. They beat Neeraj Rehman and Nafeesah Sara Siraj (Kerala) 21-12, 21-11 in first round, Sai Pratheek Krishna Prasad and Ashwini Bhat K (Karnataka) 23-21, 21-18 in second round, Siddarth Elango Khushi Gupta (TS-DLI) 21-12, 18-21, 21-13 in quarterfinals and Kabir Kanzarkar and Sonika Sai P (RLY-AP) 21-11, 9-4 (Retd) in the semifinals.
Rutaparna and Keyura Mopati from Telangana settled with the women doubles silver medal after losing to Air India-Karnataka combination of Shikha Gautam and Ashwini Bhat K in the summit clashin the finals. Shikha and Ashwini won 21-11, 21-17.
