Captains knock of 83 by Debasish Samantray went in vain as Odisha lost to Delhi by four wickets in their opening Elite Group-B match of the BCCI Mens One-day League at Gokulbhai Somabhai Patel Stadium in Nadiad today.
Electing to bat, Odisha mustered a competitive total of 198, thanks to an 88-run stand for the ninth wicket between Samantray and Ashish Rai. Samantray hit eight boundaries in his 136-ball responsible knock, while Rai played a cameo knock of 34 with the help of five fours and one six.
But Delhi overhauled the target in in 46 overs, losing six wickets in the process. Vaibhav Kandpal and Rajesh Sharma scored a half-century each for Delhi, while Preet Kunwar Singh Chohan and Tarani Sa picked up two wickets each for Odisha. Odisha will next meet Bengal tomorrow.
