Odisha trounced Pondicherry by 52 runs in their seventh and last Group-E league match of the BCCI U-23 Women T20 League at Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium Khanderi B Ground in Rajkot today. This was the fifth win for Odisha, who finished third in the group with 20 points. Railways and Vidarbha emerged group winners and runners-up respectively and qualified for the super league.
Anjali Singh starred in the win over Pondicherry, hitting a 71-ball 76 with the help of seven boundaries. Opting to bat after winning the toss, Odisha rode on a 105-run partnership for the second wicket between Anjali and Sumitra Sahoo to compile a healty total of 130 for two in the stipulated 20 overs. Sumitra remained unbeaten on 39.
In reply, Pondicherry were restricted to 78 for six in the stipulated overs. Rajashree Swain was most successful Odisha bowler, taking three wickets for 10 runs, while Indrani Chhatria picked up two wickets for 16 runs.
