Host KIIT University bagged a double by winning both the women’s sevens and 15s titles in the All-India Inter-University Rugby Championship, which was held under the aegis of Association of Indian Universities at KIIT Campus here from December 19 to 23, 2018.
KIIT women beat Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar in seven final and Punjabi University, Patiala in the 15s summit clash. KIIT University men finished third in both seven and 15s competitions. Utkal University was another Odisha team to shine in the tournament, finishing third in women sevens category.
East 7s team featured 12 players and the 15s team 22. Prizes were handed over by KIIT University Registrar, Prof Sasmita Samanta. KIIT Sports Director, Dr Gaganendu Dash, Rugby India Development Manager, Sandeep Mosamkar and Regional Development Manager, Nandu Charvarkar were present on the occasion.

Women 7s: 1. KIIT University, 2. Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar, 3. Utkal University.
Women 15s: 1. KIIT University, 2. Punjabi University, Patiala, 3. MD University, Rohtak.
