Host Odisha collected three points by virtue of taking first-innings lead against Railways in their four-day C K Nayudu Trophy U-23 Elite Group-C match, which ended in draw at Veer Surendra Sai Stadium in Sambalpur today. Choosing to bat, Railways were bowled out for paltry 113. In reply, Odisha piled up 384 to take a first-innings lead of 271 runs.
But Railways bounced back into the match by declaring their second innings at 505 for seven and setting a target of 235 runs for Odisha to win the match. The home team were 95 for six in their second innings when both the captains agreed to end the match as draw.
Three players from Odisha put up impressive performance in this match. Pace bowler Ayaskant Sahu bagged seven wickets in the first innings and 10 in the match to be adjudged the man of the match. Opening batsmen Sandeep Pattanaik (123, 223b, 17x4, 2x6) and Amrit Khatua (109, 289b, 13x4) scored a century each. Odisha will next meet Chhattisgarh at BSP Cricket Stadium in Bhilai from December 16 to 19.
