Hockey MWC: India storm into quarterfinals; SA exit

Hosts India fired four times in the final quarter to trounce Canada 5-1 in their third and last Pool-C match of the 14th Hockey Men’s World Cup here at Kalinga Stadium today. This was the second win for India and they marched into the quarterfinals directly as pool toppers with seven points.

Though Belgium (World Ranking 3) too finished their Pool C engagements with seven points, hammering South Africa 5-1 earlier in the day, they were eventually pushed to the second spot in the pool on the basis of goal difference of plus-five against plus-nine by India.
