Hosts Vidarbha defeated Odisha by an innings and 32 runs on the fourth and last day of their C K Nayudu Trophy U-23 Elite Group-C match at VCA Stadium in Nagpur today. The win earned seven points for Vidarbha, while Odisha drew blank.
Trailing by 187 runs in the first innings and resuming their second innings at the overnight score of 127 for three, Odisha were bowled out for 155, losing the last seven wickets for 49 runs. The only purple patch of the innings was a 74-run partnership for the second wicket between Amrit Khatua and Biswajit Bhuyan. The former notched up a half-century, while the latter missed it by two runs.
Earlier, Odisha were forced to follow on after folding up for 228, in reply to a huge first-innings total of 415. Odisha captain Debasish Samantray (54) and Kartik Biswal (51) hit a half-century each. Vidarbha chose to bat in this match after winning the toss. Saurabh Kanojia was most successful bowler for Odisha, scalping four wickets for 47 runs. Odisha will next meet Kerala at Vikash Ground in Bargarh from November 30 to December 3.
