I-League: Indian Arrows lose Odisha home match

Indian Arrows went down to former champions Mohun Bagar 0-2 in their second Odisha home match of the 12th I-League Football Tournament at Barabati Stadium here today. Cameroonian striker Dipanda Dicka, the top scorer of the last two editions of the I-League, scored both the goals to be adjudged the Hero of the Match.

Dicka received a cash award of Rs 25,000 from the hands of Odisha Athletic Association secretary Asirbad Behera. This was the second defeat in three matches for Indian Arrows, who remained on three points.

Earlier in their first Odisha home game here on November 5, Indian Arrows beat Shillong Lazong 1-0. Asish Roy scored the all-important goal to receive the Hero of the Match prize of Rs 25,000 from Football Association of Odisha (FAO) president Debashish Samantray.

Indian Arrows, which is the developmental side of All India Football Federation (AIFF), have adopted Barabati Stadium and Kalinga Stadium, Bhubaneswar as their two new home venues. The team will play three of their home matches at Barabati Stadium and seven at Kalinga Stadium. But the matches are unlikely to attract many spectators as the Arrows have no player from Odisha in their team.
