Odisha girl Sohini Mohanty bagged a double by winning both the under-14 singles and doubles titles in the AITA Championship Series Tennis Tournament, which concluded at Karnal in Haryana today.
Bhubaneswar lass Sohini defeated second seed Maitreyi Phogat from Chandigarh 6-2, 7-6(5) in singles final to clinch the double. Earlier in the semifinals she stunned top seed Angelina Singh (Haryana) 6-1, 6-1.
In girls doubles final, Sohini and her partner Divya Ungrish prevailed over Chandigarh pair of Tamanna Narwal and Maitreyi Phogat 6-4, 2-6,(10-8). Sohini would have bagged a treble had she won the added the under-12 girls singles title to her name. But she finished runner-up after losing to second seed Maitreyi Phogat 5-7, 4-6 in the final match.
