Aroush Tagore from Kolkata emerged champion in the Odisha Juniors Golf Tournament, which concluded here at the Par 72 Bhubaneswar Golf Club today. This was the sixth leg of the Indian Golf Union (IGU) East Zone Feeder and Sub-junior Tour and was sponsored by fast growing agri food and beverage company Milk Mantra.
The two-day Odisha Juniors featured competition in five age-group categories for boys and girls _ Category A (15-17 years), Category B (13-14 years), C (11-12 years), Category D (9-10 years) and E (8 years and below). Aroush shot a second round 85 and a gross of 165 to clinch the title in Category A.
Saquib Hussain of Kolkata captured the overall runner’s up spot. Rakshik Basu and Ramayush Ray (both Kolkata) finished overall third and fourth respectively. Saquib Hussain was the winner of Category B and Rakshik Basu and Ramayush Ray were the first and second runners-up respectively.
Prasidh Dhandhania (Kolkata) bagged the title in Category C event. Kabir Mehta (Kolkata) though tied with Mohit Balasubramaniam (Shilong) were the runners-up of the category-C. Aditya Khaitan (Kolkata) took home the Category D title and Varish Mohta (Kolkata) claimed the Category E title. Amongst the girls, Sana Hussain took home the Category C event with Navyaa Nahata winning Category D.
But the tournament did no good for the growth of the sport in the state as no player from Odisha, if there were any, could put up a noteworthy performance. Milky Mantra Founder and CEO Srikumar Misra.
