Sports talents in rural Orissa found a promoter when convenor of Panchayat Mahila Shakti Abhiyan (PMSA) Orissa, Suparno Satpathy was given the additional charge of Panchayat Yuva Shakti Abhiyan (PYSA) by the Ministry of Panchayati Raj, Government of India in New Delhi today. According to a release from Srimati Nandini Satpathy Memorial Trust (SNSMT), the Ministry also renamed the project as Pachayat Mahila evam Yuva Shakti Abhiyan (PMYSA).
Satpathy today called on Union Minister of State for Sports and Youth Affairs, M S Gill and held discussions regarding the search of sports talent from the panchayat levels of Orissa. SNSMT chairman Satpathy appraised the Minister regarding the lack of facilities to identify and groom these talents. He also informed the Minster that sportspersons from the state had not received due recognition despite bringing laurels for the country.
