OSJA likely host for World Young Sports Journo Workshop

Odiha Sports Journalists’ Association (OSJA) will seek help from the State Governmentis to be able to host the World Young Sports Journalists’ Workshop during Odisha Hockey Men’s World Cup-2018, scheduled to be held at Kalinga Stadium here from November 28 to December 16.

This was decided in the Annual General Meeting of OSJA, held at Debasis Mohanty Press Box in Sahid Sporting ground here today. Young sports scribes from 12 countries are expected to take part in the workshop, which would be organised under the aegis of Asian Sports Journalists Association (AIPS Asia).

The AGM also featured review of OSJA activities for the year 2017-18 and finalization of schedule for the year 2018-19. According the schedule, OSJA will observe the World Sports Journalists Day at Cuttack on July 2 and the Dr Ashok Patnaik Memorial Meeting at Bhubaneswar on August 18.

A sub-committee was formed to pursue the matter of getting State Government accreditation for sports journalists of the state, especially recipients of the Biju Patnaik Sports Journalist Award. Regularisation of OSJA Annual Awards, staging of Media Cup 2019 and induction of new members were other topics on which discussion was held in the meeting.

OSJA president K Ravi, working president Sandeep Mishra, vice-presidents Sambit Mohapatra and Suresh Swain; secretary Sanatan Pani; joint-secretaries Debi Prasana Mohanty and Samikhya Patnaik; treasurer Himanshu Patimishra and members Surya Prasad Rath, Tapan Swain, Debasis Sundaray, Sarbeswar Mohanty, Gyana Ranjan Mishra, Umakant Mishra, Subhalaxmi Bal, Niranjan Reddy, Shakti Prasad Nanda, Samir Rout, Benudhar Das, Tanmay Das, Dipti Ranjan Samal, Debi Prasanna Panigrahi, Chiranjibi Pati, Soubhagya Sundar Rath, Mohan Swain and Mahendra Sahu were present in the AGM.
