Keonjhargarh bagged a total of 55 medals to reign supreme in the 25th Odisha State Wushu Championship, which was held at Pumas Sports Complex here from December 22 to 24, 2017. The medals included 31 gold, 10 silver and 14 bronze. Sundargarh (16+15+19) and Khurda (9+10+12) finished second and third with 50 and 31 medals respectively.
Pratap Sahoo (Khurda) and Sukanti Munda (Keonjhargarh) were adjudged best male and female fighters respectively. Bhubaneswar Mayor Ananta Narayan Jena graced the closing ceremony as chief guest and handed over the medals. Wushu Association of India secretary Sohail Aahmed, Wushu Association of Orissa president Sudhanshu Kumar Harichandan and secretary Pradyumna Behera were present on the occasion.
Around 350 competitors, including 110 women from 25 districts vied for medals in sub-junior, junior and senior categories of the championship, which was inaugurated by Odisha Sports Minister Chandra Sarathi Behera. The three-day championship was organised by Bhubaneswar Wushu Association.
