Host Odisha beat Punjab by 43 runs in their opening Plate Group-A match of the Senior Women’s One-day League here at Ravenshaw University Ground today. Opting to bat first, Odisha rode on a captain’s knock of 41 by Madhusmita Behera and useful contributions by Pragyan Mohanty, Dibyadarshini Pradhan and Anjali Singh to make a competitive total of 169 for six in 50 overs.
In reply, Punjab were all out for 126 in 42.4 overs. Taniya Bhatia waged a lonely battle for Punjab, hitting a 104-ball 70. Reemalaxmi Ekka and Dibyadarshini Pradhan picked up two wickets each for Odisha. Karnataka defeated Tamil Nadu by six wickets at Nimpur Ground, while Haryana prevailed over Saurashtra by 10 wickets at DRIEMS Ground in two other matches of the day.
