Half-century each by captain Sangita Khadia and Kajal Jena proved in vain as Odisha lost to Assam by five wickets in their East Zone U-19 Women’s One-day league match at JSCA Oval Ground in Ranchi today. This was the second defeat in three matches for Odisha, who would play their fourth and last league match against Bengal at JSCA International Stadium, Ranchi on November 10.
Electing to bat, Odisha made 165 for four in 50 overs. Opener Jena made 50, while Khadia remained unbeaten on 54. However, Assam overhauled the target in 41.2 overs, losing five wickets in the process. GM Alakananda was most successful Odisha bowler, taking three wickets for 41 runs.
