Cuttack City asserted supremacy by bagging three out of four titles in the 7th Senior Inter-District Football Tennis Championship, which was held at Khariar Road in Nuapada from August 12 to 14, 2017. Cuttack City emerged champions in women’s double, triple and men’s double events.
Dhenkanal denied Cuttack City a clean sweep of all four titles, capturing the crown in men’s triple event. Cuttack District team also achieved notable success, finishing runners-up in women’s double, triple and men’s triple events. The runners-up position in men’s double event went to Dhenkanal.
Rajesh Behera of the Dhenkanal and Tulasi Behera of the Cuttack City were adjudged as the best male and female player respectively. The three-day championship was organised by Nuapada District Football Tennis Association (NDFTA), under the aegis of Odisha State Football Tennis Association (OSFTA).
Altogether 18 men’s and six women’s teams participated in the championship. OSTFA officials Dr Nila Madhab Nanda, Sahadev Rout, Sangita Sharma, Pradeep Kumar Routray, Balaram Motari, Rashmita Mohanty and NDFTA president Rajendra Dholkia were present in the closing function.
