Host Orissa`s Kunu Mukhi won the first gold medal by emerging champion in men`s 55 kg weight class of the All-India Arm-wrestling Championship, which commenced at Kalinga Gymnasium in Cuttack today.
In women`s category, Manipur`s C H Parvati Devi secured the first title in the 50 kg class. Around 350 arm-wrestlers from 12 states joined the championship, which was inaugurated by former Chief Minister Janaki Ballav Patnaik.
Results: Men: 55kg: 1. Kunu Mukhi (Ori), 2. L Chitreswar (Man), 3. Saroj Nayak (Ori). Women: 50kg: 1. CH Parvati Devi (Man), 2. DS Jovi (Miz), 3. Bobita Tirumul (Utcl).
