Odisha Powerlifting Association (OPA) and Utkal Karate School today jointly felicitated members of the state squad for bagging a total of 31 medals in the Subrata Classic National Powerlifting, Benchpress & Deadlift Championship 2017, which was held at Jammu from March 21 to 24. The medals included 17 gold, six silver and eight bronze.
OPA vice-president Hari Prasad Pattanayak, secretary Chitta Ranjan Swain and treasurer Debashish Acharya were present in the felicitation function, held here at Utkal Karate School. The 40-member Odisha squad, which included coach Gangadhar Bisoyi and manager Saroj Kumar Das, also emerged team champions in both men and women sections.
