Notable performances by all-rounder Rajashree Swain, captain Anjali Singh and Kajal Jena helped Odisha beat Tripura by 16 runs in their opening match of the East Zone Inter-State Under-23 Women One-day League at Barabati Stadium here today.
Opting to bat after winning the toss, host Odisha rode on a 69-run partnership for opening wicket between Anjali (36) and Kajal (36) to make a modest total of 135 for eight in 50 overs. In reply, Tripura were bowled out for 119 in 45.5 overs.
Rajashree shone with both bat and ball, scoring 24 runs and taking two wickets for 18 runs. The win fetched Odisha four points, while Tripura drew blank. Assam defeated Jharkhand by two wickets in another match of the day here at Ravenshaw University Ground.
