A 12-member Odisha squad, which included eight girls and four boys, bagged two gold and two siler medals in the 37th Junior National Rowing Championship, which was held at Kollam, Kerela from 28th November to 3rd December, 2016.
In the girls event, Reshma Kumari Minz bagged the silver medal in single scull. In double scull Reshma Kumari Minz and Deepika Xess won the silver medal. In coxless pair Jharana Hasti and Kamala Lakra secured the gold medal and in coxless four, Jharana Hasti , Kamala Lakra, Sumitra Mallick and Ritu Kaudi claimed the gold medal.
The competition was held for 1000 meters and Odisha rowers participated in all the events. Odisha squad was accompanied by coach, Paulose P T and manager Anadi Kayal. Odisha Association for Rowing & Sculling president Binod Dash and secretary Amarjyoti Singh Deo congratulated the rowers for their achievement.
