Prinansh emerges National U-7 chess champion

Odisha boy Priansh Das won the title in the open category of the 30th National Under-7 Chess Championship, which was held at Puducherry from Sept 19 to 27, 2016. Fifth seed Priansh scored 9.5 points out of a possible 11 with nine wins, one draw and one loss. With the title triumph, he added 70 points to his present FIDE rating of 1254.

This was the maiden national title for Cuttack boy Prinash, who had finished runner-up in the previous National U-7 Championship at Chennai. His twin brother Sriansh Das narrowly missed the bronze medal and finished fourth with nine points.

As many as 15 players from Odisha participated in the championship. Other 13 were: Aryan Mohapatra, Hrishikesh Panda, Aditya Ranjan Das, Bikash Kumar Lenka, Jiban Jyoti, Priyanshu Pradhan (all boys); Arushi Srichandan, Sushree Ananya Ray, Anshika Pandey, Ankita Sahoo, Lakshanya Dalai, Sradha Mishra, Advika Das (all girls).
