Odisha players made clean sweep of top three positions in the 7th Bhubaneswar All-India Fide Rating (Below 1600) Chess Tournament, which concluded here at Hotel Empires today. Organised by Khordha District Chess Association (KDCA), under the aegis of All Odisha Chess Association (AOCA), the tournament carried a total prize fund of Rs 2.5 lakh.
Sarthak Debata clinched the title and the top prize of Rs 25,000, scoring 7.5 points out of a possible nine. Priyanka Routray and Swastik Sourav Sahoo finished second and third respectively also with 7.5 points apiece. Priyanka received Rs 20,000 and Swastik took home Rs 15,000.
Altogether 191 players from 16 states participated in the three-day tournament, paying entry fee of Rs 1,250 each. (AOCA) vice-president Ranjan Mohanty was the chief guest of the prize-distribution ceremony. KDCA secretary Subhasis Patnaik was present on the occasion.
