Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences (KISS) emerged champions in the 2nd Subhendu Patra Memorial School Hockey League, trouncing Sainik School 5-1 in the all-Bhubaneswar final at Kalinga Stadium Hockey Complex here today.
Cuttack-based Poonam Youth Welfare Organisation (PYWO) organized the tournament in the memory of Subhendu Patra, former secretary of Odisha Hockey Association. The tournament, featuring six teams, was inaugurated by Krida Bharati president Damodar Pradhani, in presence of KIIT sports director, Gaganendu Dash and State Assistant Sports Director, Akhila Bihari Das. Odapada High School failed to turn up.
Raja Kumar Balmiki bagged the Player of the tournament award while KISS goal keeper Gyanendra Oram was declared the best goal keeper. R Ambalavanan, Accountant General, Odisha and Preetibala Patra, wife of Late Subhendu Patra, handed over the trophy and prizes in the presence of PYWO founder and coach Gyanesh Kanungo.

Sept 8 (Match No 1): Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences (KISS), Bhubaneswar (Tairash Oram 7th, 21st; Anuranjan Kereketta 10th, 12th; Rajkumar Ekka 24th, Abhishek Tigga 39th, 59th) beat Odisha Police High School, Cuttack 7-0.
Sept 9 (Match No 2): Sainik School (Rajkumar Balmiki 16th, Pranav Kumar 27th, Abhinav Kumar 36th) beat Giridharijew Vidya Mandir, Kishannagar, Cuttack 3-0.
Sept 9 (Match No 3): Sainik School (Tinku Kasana 2, Abhinav Kumar, Aman Kumar, Rajkumar Balmiki 1 each) beat Soudamini Smruti Vidyapitha, Dhenkanal (Rajat Kumar Rout 22nd, Ajay Behera 25th) 5-2.
Sept 9 (Match No 4): Soudamini Smruti Vidyapitha (Rajesh Behera) drew with Giridharijew Vidya Mandir (Santosh Sahoo) 1-1.
Sept 10 (Match No, Final): KISS (Binod Lakra 5th, 29th, 26th; Dugru Oram 10th, 35th) beat Sainik School (Raja Kumar Balmiki 13th) 5-1.
