Adarsh Sahoo to play college tennis in USA

Adarsh Sahoo is all set to become the first player from Odisha to play American College Tennis this year. He left Bhubaneswar yesterday to join Prairie State College in Chicago. He has been offered scholarship to play tennis for Prairie State College.

Seventeen-year-old Adarsh has signed an agreement to play for the American college for two years. He hopes to play for two more years in Division-I of NCAA (National College Athletic Association). Besides playing tennis, Adarsh will do a four-year degree course in computer science.

Son of Bhubaneswar-based Satyajit Sahoo and Jayshree Chintak, Adarsh has been playing tennis under the guidance of coach Farhan Ali. He won his first all-India singles title in the AITA Under-18 Talent Series Tournament at Kalinga Stadium here in June, 2014. Earlier, he won a boys` doubles title in the AITA Under-14 Talent Series Tournament here at Bhubaneswar Club in November 2011.

Student of Loyola School, Bhubaneswar, Adarsh got the scholarship after putting up good performance in Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL), which is a standardized test of English language proficiency for non-native English language speakers wishing to enroll in US universities.
