An eight-member Odisha squad bagged two gold medals in the 19th Sub-junior National Rowing Championship, which was held at Sri Ram Chandra Medical College Water Sports Centre, Porur, Chennai, from June 7 to 12. The team consisted of six girls and two boys. Paulose P T and Raghunath Singh accompanied the squad as coach and manager respectively.
The championship was held for 500 metres. Odisha squad participated in three events in girls category and two in boys. Reshma Kumari Minz and Deepika Xess won the first gold in girls coxless pair event with a timing of 1:52.10. The other gold was claimed by Reshma Kumari Minz, Deepika Xess, Ritu Kaudi and Supriya Xaxa in girls coxless, taking 1:46.63.
Binod Dash, president of Orissa Association for Rowing & Sculling and Amarjyoti Singh Deo, secretary General of the state body, congratulated the rowers for their achievement and wished them more success in the future.
