Local favourite Susanta Kumar Rout bagged a double by winning both the men singles and doubles titles in the 4th Secretariat All-Odisha Employees Open Badminton Tournament, which concluded at Sahid Nagar Govt Indoor Hall here today.
In the 1st Secretariat All-Odisha Open Veteran Badmonton Tournament, which was conducted simultaneously, Bijay Kumar Moharana (Bhubaneswar) emerged singles champion, while the doubles titled was secured by Kamal Das and Subhasish Sahoo (Cuttack).
As many as 120 shuttlers from 10 districts participated in the the two-day tournament, which was organised by Odisha State Secretariat Badminton Association (OSSBA) and carried a total prize fund of Rs 38,000. Monoj Kumar Sabat was the chief referee.
State Sports & Youth Services Department Director Ananta Kishore Jena graced the closing ceremony as chief guest and handed over the prizes. Present on the occasion were OSSBA working president Lalit Mohan Pattnaik, general secretary Chitta Ranjan Rout, joint-secretary Niranjan Pattnaik, games director Sasanka Sekhar Mohapatra and treasurer Baresh Nath Pradhan.
Earlier, Planning & Convergence Department Additional Secretary Pradeep Kumar Biswal inaugurated the tournament in the presence of office-bearers of of OSSBA. He unveiled the OSSBA Bulletin on the occasion.

Men singles: Susanta Kumar Rout (Bhubaneswar) bt Sapan Kumar Samal (Cutt) 8-21, 21-16, 21-6. Men doubles: Chandi Prasad Das- Susanta Kumar Rout (Bhubaneswar) bt Jaya Prakash Singh-Sambit Mishra (Balasore) 21-18, 21-19. Veteran singles: Bijay Kumar Moharana (Bhubaneswar) bt P K Khadenga (Koraput) 24-12, 21-11. Veteran doubles: Kamal Das-Subhasish Sahoo (Cuttack) bt Mahesh Kukreja-Gouri Sankar Bisi
(Kalahandi) 21-13, 21-9.
