Cricketer Pravanjan Mullick wins maiden tennis title

Now a days, former Odisha senior cricket team captain Pravanjan Mullick is not only displaying his skills on tennis courts, but also achieving success. He won his maiden tennis title in 40-plus age group of the All-Odisha Veterans Doubles Tournament with partner Jhadeswar Das at Union Club in Berhampur today.

Organised by Ganjam District Tennis Association (GDTA), the two-day tournament also featured competition in 50-plus doubles group. Bhubaneswar duo Ajay Mohapatra and Ajay Sahoo emerged champions in the 50-plus category.

Additional Police DG Satyajit Mohanty gave away the trophies at the closing function. Southern Range RDC Bhaskar Jyoti Sharma, Southern Range Police IG Amitav Thakur, Vigilance DIG Narasingha Bhola and organising secretary Arjun Swain were present on the occasion.

40-Plus doubles: Semifinals:
Ajay Mohapatra-Ajay Sahoo beat Prakash Kumar Singh-Biswajit Mishra 8-5; Pravanjan Mullick-Jhadeswar Das bt Jayakrushna Mali-Gangadhar Lenka 8-5. Final: P Mullick-J Das beat A Mohapatra-A Sahu 9-2.
50-Plus doubles: Semifinals: Ajay Mohapatra-Ajay Sahoo beat Gangadhar Lenka-Manas Das 8-5, J Ganta-PK Patnaik bt Prakash Bhura-Snehasish Behera 8-2. Final: A Mohapatra-A Sahu beat J Ganta-PK Patnaik 9-3.
