Parida pockets Bhubaneswar Open chess title

Former state champion and top seed Manas Ranjan Parida won the title in the 29th Bhubaneswar Open Chess Tournament, which was organised by Bhubaneswar Chess Association (BCA) at Secretariat Recreation Club here from January 23 to 25. He scored 8.5 points out of possible 9.

Bira Kishore Behera (7.5) and Prabhat Kumar Ojha (7) finished second and third respectively. Altogether 91 players from 15 districts participated in the three-day tournament. Orissa State Chess Association vice-president Arati Bijoy Mohanty, Orissa Secretariat Recreation Club general secretary
Managovinda Dalai and Puri District Chess Association secretary Dr Bimal Prasad Mohanty gave away the prizes in the presence of Chess Association of Odisha secretary Sabita Tripathy and tournament director Debasis Panigrahi.
