Odisha bagged a double by winning both men and women titles in the 12th Senior National Gateball Championship, which was held at Nagpur from February 1 to 3. This was informed by Odisha Gateball Association secretary Mohammad Azam.
Odisha men emerged champions, defeating Bihar in the final. Earlier, Odisha won all five of their league matches, getting the better of Assam, Delhi, Himachal Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and Vidarbha to reach semifinals, where they prevailed over Maharashtra.
Odisha women clinched the title by defeating host Maharashtra in the final. Earlier in the semifinals, they edged out Vidarbha. Before the last-four clash, Odisha won three league matches agaisnt Karnataka, Gujarat and Saurashtra.
