Magnificent bowling performance by captain Sushree Dibyadarshini Pradhan propelled East Zone to an innings and 34-run win over North Zone in their two-day league match of the U-19 Women Inter-Zonal Tournament at JSCA International Stadium in Ranchi today.
Odisha allrounder Sushree bagged four wickets in the first innings and six in the second for a match haul of 10 for 66. She also scored 36 runs with the bat. Among other notable East Zone performers, Tanushree Sarkar scored a century, while Sarojini Giri (Odisha) scalped four wickets in the first innings, without conceding a single run.
The thumping win fetched seven points for East Zone, who will next meet Central Zone at the same venue on January 20 and 21. As many as six players from Odisha have been included in the East Zone team. Other four are Anjali Singh, Banalata Mallick, Sumitra Sahoo and Sasmita Mahalik.
BRIEF SCORE: East Zone 229/10 in 90.5 overs (Tanushree Sarkar 107, Sushree Dibyadarshini Pradhan 36, Indrani Roy 21; Komalpreet Kour 2/8, S Gulia 2/37, Vandana Chaturvedi 2/44) beat North Zone 29/10 in 33.1 overs (Sarojini Giri 4/0, Sushree Pradhan 4/13, Tanushree Sarkar 2/3) and 166/10 in 67.3 overs (H Deol 116; Sushree Pradhan 6/53) by innings and 34 runs.
