BNR Power (SAI Sundargarh) emerged champions in the 140th Veer Birsa Munda Cup Hockey Tournament, defeating Sports Hostel (Sundargarh) 1-0 in the final at Barsuan, Sundargarh today. Sushil Minz, the captain of the victorious team, scored the all-important goal in the 52nd minute.
The champion team received a cash prize of Rs 20,000 and the runners-up side Rs 15,000. Bonai MLA Laxman Munda handed over the trophy at the closing function. Altogether 18 teams participated in the four-day tournament, which was organised by Veer Birsa Munda Seva Committee.
