Local favourite and former state champion Manas Ranjan Parida captured the title in the 8th Sundeep Mohanty Memorial Open Chess Tournament, garnering eight points out of a possible nine at Secretariat Recreation Club here today.
Defending champion Bira Kishore Behera finished third with 7.5 points. Altogether 86 players from 18 districts participated in the three-day tournament, which was organised by Bhubaneswar Chess Association.
