Haryana beat host Odisha by an innings and 87 runs on the penultimate day of their four-day Plate Group B match of the Col C K Nayudu Trophy (U-23) Tournament here at Veer Surendra Sai Stadium today. The win fetched Haryana seven points, while Odisha drew blank.
Electing to bat, Odisha made a modest total of 176 in the first innings. Vice-captain Ranjit Singh, who scored a double century in their previous match against Chhattisgarh, missed out on another centry by eight runs. He faced 164 balls and hit 14 boundaries and one six.
In reply Haryana mustered 434 to take a massive lead of 258 runs. Shamsher Yadav and Rohit Sharma scored a century each, while Parvesh Dahiya and Ankit Narwal hit a half-century each. Needing 259 runs to avoid innings defeat, Odisha folded up for 171 in the second innings.
